hooker patrol

so...i LOVE our apartment here in Seattle. we've got an amazing view of the skyline, mt ranier, and lake union from a huge deck...BUT, we also live amongst many a motel (i'm looking at the 'thunderbird motel' right now) so, that tends to attract a few ladies of the night.

i feel bad for them. i just don't want them standing on my corner. so...

i run them off....in the nicest way i can think of.

its pretty weird because they usually come in waves and i've only had to actually talk with them a few times. a couple of nights ago, there was a VERY young girl hanging out a block away. so, i slowed down. she approached the passenger side of my car, smiling.

i fumbled with my sunroof. realizing this wouldn't work, i leaned over to unroll my window. realizing this wouldn't work, i unbuckled by seatbelt so i could reach the window crank thingy. this caused me to let up on the pedals and i rolled back a few feet. I cracked it a few inches and she (no older than 16, reminding me too much of my young step-sisters) giggled at my own embarrassment.

i said, "um, yeah, hi. um, i'm going to call the police...so...um...it's probably a good idea that you, ah, move along..." (john wayne's voice in my head saying "move along little lady")

she said, "oh....okay..." she smiled, in a sweet somewhat confused yet knowing way. she pulled her too thin coat around her and stepped back.

i didn't actually call the police. i just wanted to buy her a sandwich or take her down some tea. i'm a terrible vice cop.
